Rehab for College Students in West Palm Beach
Treatment you can schedule around your classes.
Outpatient treatment for college and university students 18 and over who are struggling with drinking, drug use, anxiety or depression. Evening IOP after class, day options when you need more support, your own therapist and psychiatric care, all while you keep your place in school.
Outpatient Treatment for College Students Who Want to Stay in School
College is full of reasons to put this off. Everyone drinks. Everyone is stressed. It will settle down after midterms, after finals, after this semester. And meanwhile the grades, the sleep and the relationships keep paying for it.
Outpatient treatment means you don’t have to choose between getting help and staying in school. You keep living where you live, keep going to class, and come to group therapy at set times during the week. At Sunview, evening IOP meets Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 PM, and day IOP meets three mornings a week if your schedule leaves room for it.
You join the same licensed clinical groups as other adults at Sunview, with one facilitator for the whole session, a weekly session with your own therapist, and psychiatric care through Telemed Clinix when medication is part of the plan.
How Evening IOP Fits Around a College Class Schedule

If your pre-screening points to more support, the Partial Hospitalization Program meets weekday mornings from 9 AM to 1 PM. Some students take a lighter semester for that stretch and step down to evening IOP after.
College Drinking, Binge Drinking and Substance Use in College Students
Common doesn’t mean harmless
Drinking that runs the week
Thursday through Saturday became Tuesday through Sunday, and mornings are written off.
Grades slipping
Missed classes, late assignments and a GPA that tells a story you haven’t told anyone.
Study drugs and party drugs
Adderall to keep up, molly or cocaine on the weekend, Xanax to come down.
Anxiety or low mood
Using to get through social situations, to sleep, or to stop thinking about everything.
Binge drinking is so common in college that it’s easy to miss the point where it turns into something else. The same is true for study drugs and party drugs. If you’re using more than you planned, missing class because of it, or not able to cut back when you try, that’s worth a conversation with someone clinical.
Many students are also dealing with anxiety, depression or ADHD, and use alcohol or drugs to manage it. At Sunview we treat both together as dual diagnosis. Our articles on whether alcohol is a depressant and what is actually in molly are a good place to start reading.
Treatment and Collegiate Recovery Programs Work Best Together
A collegiate recovery program is a campus community for students in recovery: peers, sober events and a place to belong. It isn’t clinical treatment, and treatment isn’t a social life. Students who use both get the structure of treatment and the community of campus recovery.
If you already see a counselor or doctor at school, our team works hand in hand with the providers you’re seeing, with your written consent, instead of asking you to start over.
- Clinical group therapy and your own therapist at Sunview
- Peer community and sober spaces on campus

Getting Through the Semester in Recovery
Midterms, finals and breaks are part of the plan
Treatment at Sunview runs on what we call In Vivo Treatment™: you practice recovery in the life you’re actually living. For a student that means exam stress, roommates, parties and breaks come into group and get worked through, not avoided.
Leave and academic accommodations depend on your school’s policies, so your school’s student services or disability services office is the place to ask. If you have questions about paperwork for school, ask us on the first call. Because you’re an adult, you decide whether your parents are involved, and we contact family only with your written consent.
- 1First weeks. Pre-screening, a recommended level of care and your first group.
- 2Midterms. Stress, sleep and cravings become what you work on in group.
- 3Finals. A plan for the hardest weeks, made with your therapist in advance.
- 4Breaks. Step down, keep going, or plan for being home, decided with your team.
