Your First Week

Getting settled, one step at a time

  1. 1

    Day 1

    Intake

Paperwork, a biopsychosocial assessment about your history and relationships, and the releases that let us coordinate your care.

  2. 2

    Early in the week

    Your first groups

You join the continuous group with one facilitator and meet your primary therapist for your first individual session.

  3. 3

    Within week one

    Family contact

With your consent, your therapist contacts a loved one to introduce themselves and hear what they’ve seen.

  4. 4

    Scheduled for you

    First Telemed appointment

We book your psychiatric evaluation with Telemed Clinix, held in a private office at Sunview.

Most people are nervous in week one. That’s normal. Your therapist and group facilitator will help you find your footing. Read more about family therapy and psychiatric care and medication management.

A Typical PHP Morning

Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM

In the Partial Hospitalization Program, your morning is one continuous group with the same facilitator, not a new topic and a new face every hour. That consistency lets the group go deeper.

  1. 9:00

    Group begins

One continuous group, led by the same facilitator all morning.

  2. Mid-morning

    Break

    Breaks come throughout the morning.

  3. During the week

    Individual session

45 to 60 minutes with your primary therapist, once a week.

  4. When scheduled

    Telemed appointment

Virtual psychiatric care in a private office on site.

  5. 1:00

    Home

The afternoon is yours. What happens next becomes tomorrow’s work.

A Typical IOP Evening

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 6 to 9 PM

Evening IOP is built for people who work during the day. You finish your workday, come to group, and head home by 9. The structure is the same as day programming: one continuous group, a weekly individual session and access to psychiatric care.

  • Mon6–9 PM
  • Wed6–9 PM
  • Thu6–9 PM

Gender-Specific Days and Group Culture

Every other Thursday, women and men meet in separate groups. The day follows the same structure, and many people find it easier to share what feels more understood by others of the same gender.

The group culture runs on carefrontation: honest feedback given with care, never to shame. You’ll learn to give it and to hear it. Group therapy.

Transportation, Drug Testing and Ground Rules

Abstinence-based, not medication-free

What we provide

  • Free door-to-door transportation to and from our center if you can’t drive yourself
  • A weekly individual session with your primary therapist
  • Psychiatric care scheduled for you
  • Family involvement at your pace

What we ask

  • No marijuana, stimulants, opioids or benzodiazepines during the program
  • Random drug testing as part of your recovery support
  • Show up, and be honest when it’s hard
  • Medications prescribed and managed by a qualified provider

We’ll tell you what to bring when we schedule your first day. Anti-craving medications like Suboxone and naltrexone are welcome when an outside provider manages them: see substance use disorder treatment.

How the Work Changes Over Time

From “how do I get through this?” to “why do I respond this way?”

StabilizationInsightIntegration

Early on, the focus is steadiness: structure, sobriety, sleep and coping skills.

As trust builds, the work goes deeper into patterns, relationships and past experiences.

Later, insight turns into choices you practice at home and at work.

Recovery isn’t linear. Hard days, triggers and old patterns will show up. They don’t mean treatment has failed; they’re moments we work through together. See how we treat dual diagnosis.

How We Track Your Progress

More than whether you finished the program

  • BAM

The Brief Addiction Monitor looks at risk and at the protective factors we want to see grow.

  • PHQ-9

Tracks symptoms of depression over the course of treatment.

  • GAD-7

Tracks symptoms of anxiety over the course of treatment.

  • Monthly plan review

You and your therapist review your treatment plan and goals every month.

  • RSA-R survey

Your feedback on your experience, which we use to improve the program.

These measures are part of our approach and outcomes.

What People Say About Sunview Wellness

  • Matthew L.

Gabe is awesome! I have had therapists before at other practices and he is one of the most empathetic and down to earth providers I have had. The group facilitators and other staff there are very kind and helpful as well. The support to get you back onto a good mental health path is amazing. Would recommend if you want more help than just a one on one therapist but want to still go home and/or work after.

  • Erica S.

I just wanted to express my gratitude, every single staff was so kind and compassionate. It took me a while to actually be receptive to the things they were teaching me and trying to help me. But once I was and truly understood and was willing to help myself too it was magic. I’m grateful for them. I’d recommend them to anyone! I also would recommend for Sunview to include same sex groups at least once a week, I believe it helps common issues and resolution insight and connection a more comfortable space for the same sex to connect to each other without feeling judgement or afraid to express their opinions and experiences in front of the other sex. (In my afternoon groups was primary female and it was an amazing experience) so much props to Sunview for giving me the tools and resources to believe myself and better myself! Thank for to every staff member there!!!!
