Psychiatric Care and Medication Management in West Palm Beach

Included in treatment at Sunview, not a separate appointment you have to chase.

For people enrolled in our PHP, IOP or Outpatient Program, psychiatric evaluation and medication management are built into treatment through our partnership with Telemed Clinix.

How it works

Psychiatry Built Into Your Treatment Program

One plan, one team, one place to show up

Psychiatric care at Sunview is available to people enrolled in our Partial Hospitalization Program, Intensive Outpatient Program or Outpatient Program. It isn’t a standalone psychiatry practice. It’s part of your treatment.

Care is provided through Telemed Clinix, our psychiatric partner. Their physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants understand the complexities of addiction and dual diagnosis, so your medication decisions are made with your whole picture in view, not just a symptom list.

Scheduled for you

We coordinate and book your psychiatric appointments. You don’t chase a referral or sit on hold with a separate office.

A private office on site

Appointments happen virtually from a private office at Sunview, set up so you can talk with your provider confidentially.

Prescriptions to your pharmacy

Your provider sends prescriptions to the pharmacy you choose, which we keep on file.

Medication Management During Treatment

It starts with understanding, not assumptions. Your provider completes a psychiatric evaluation, reviews what you’re already taking, looks at how well it’s working, and makes adjustments only when they’re clinically indicated.

We don’t change medications just because you’re entering a program. Your plan stays individual, and your therapist and provider work from the same understanding of what you’re going through.

Continuing With the Same Provider After Discharge

This is what makes our model different. When you finish PHP, IOP or OP, you can keep working with the same Telemed Clinix provider. You don’t have to start your story over with a stranger.

We value that continuity because the weeks after a program ends are when steady support matters most.

Medication-assisted treatment

Suboxone, Vivitrol and Other Medications: How We Coordinate

Abstinence-based doesn’t mean medication-free

Sunview is an abstinence-based program: no marijuana, stimulants, opioids or benzodiazepines while you’re in treatment. At the same time, we support medications that help recovery, including anti-craving medications, when a qualified provider prescribes and manages them.

A prescription or a medical card doesn’t settle the question on its own. During pre-screening we look at what you take, how much, how often and for how long, so we can recommend a level of care that’s safe for you.

Suboxone (buprenorphine)
Welcome when a qualified outside provider prescribes and manages it. If you already have one, we keep care connected with them. If you don’t, we refer you to one.
Vivitrol and naltrexone
Same approach: anti-craving medications are supported, prescribed and managed by an outside provider, with Sunview coordinating.
Long-acting injectables
Injectable psychiatric medications are given and monitored by an outside provider who can administer them properly. We coordinate with them.
Methadone
Methadone maintenance needs a different level of medical support than we provide. If you’re coming off methadone, medical stabilization usually comes first, and we’ll help you find the right program before Sunview.

Sunview is outpatient care.

If detox, residential treatment or housing needs to come first, we’ll help you get there and plan Sunview as your next step.

The bigger picture

Why Medication Is One Part of the Work

Medication steadies you. Therapy helps you change.

Medication can be an important tool for stabilization and recovery. But our goal isn’t only to manage prescriptions. It’s to understand how your psychiatric symptoms, substance use, relationships and daily functioning affect each other.

That’s why psychiatric care sits inside a full program: group therapy, a weekly individual session and family involvement when it helps. The therapeutic work builds the insight, coping skills and new habits that last longer than any dose.
